Federal Legislators and Their Jumbo Salaries!

Once again the issue of the jumbo salary of federal legislators have been brought to the fore, this time by The Economist of London. The first time such was published it was vehemently denied by the legislators now another foreign publication still on the same issue of over bloated salary. How can Nigeria's lawmakers be the highest paid in the world where there is poverty and devastating unemoloyment! The average legislator earn N30.6M per annum! This is obviously waste of resources! When Sanusi the Central Bank Governor made such an assertion before now, they almost chopped his head off but he was obviously telling the truth! On the other hand we have a government that posits that meeting ASUU demands will run down the entire government! Is it not a case of misplaced priorities? It is clear here that the salaries of the legislators need to be revisitied and adjusted to meet up with current realties as the federal purse CANNOT continue to fund such remuneration of politians whose productivity is infinitestimal compared to the real sectors! Little wonder these politicians will do just about anything to win election as they see it as an avenue to make stupendous wealth at the expense of taxpaying Nigerians. We just have to get it right by doing the right thing.

A word of caution ladies!

I am inspired to write to our young ladies that are most especially in our universities and polytechnics not to throw caution into the wind in their quest for the good life. That they should be mindful of the company they associate with as evil communication corrupts good manners. They come in the form of Aristos, sugar daddies, 'uncle' etc. Most of these are ritualists, destiny snatchers and dream killers etc. Ladies whatever they promise to give are temporary compared to the damage they do to your destinies to keep them going. Please ladies be wise and concentrate on the purpose that took you to that school in the first place. I pray for you that you will not end up like so many in the name of runs in Jesus, name. A they say is enough for the wise!

THE FG-ASUU IMPASSE.

There seem to be no end in sight in the strike action embarked upon by ASUU and that is worrisome! I thought dialogue is the way to go in resolving disputes but it doesnt appear it is achieving its purpose. The FG is letting us understand it cannot meet up with the 2009 agreement which ASUU insists upon.If I may ask was the FG forced to sign an agreement it cannot keep? Or was it signed then to get ASUU off their back? Then that will be acting in bad faith I must say! There must be a shifting of grounds by both parties for the stalemate to be resolved. Let not the system collapse before our very eyes!

Thanksgiving!

In every situation give thanks to God for this His concerning us in Christ Jesus. A thankful life is a tankful one!

My Testimony!

This God is a very Big God! His ways are truly highly than ours. Unquestionably He is the Lord. I had a list of priorities or needs that I have asked Him for in their rightful order. He srutinzed the list and when He moved He stunned me and left me speechless with a beautiful and wholesome miracle. Its a Total Package! Praise the Lord! What I believe I may not have been able to do in three years He did with just one MOVE! Thank you Jesus. I can only but trust you more and more!

THE US VISA LOTTERY AND NIGERIA.

Nigeria and seventeen other nations have been barred from further participating in the US visa lottery reason been that they have exhausted their share of the quota initially allocated to them. Nigeria seem to be the only African country on this list on close observation! Though not taking anything from the US afterall it was their creation and they had objectives for introducing the visa lottery, would it be out of place to suggest that it is their way of getting back at Nigeria for not supporting same sex marriage which they are against? If u ask me it is a case of use and dump, having maximised the potentials of Nigerians to develop their economy they dont want anymore of Nigerians especially through the lottery. I think it is a wake up call for the Nigerian government to begin to better the lot of Nigerians by creating an enabling environment in the area of entrepreneurial development that will reduce the hydra headed unemployment situation. They should endeavour to make things work in this country! I do not see why Nigerians should rush into what can be termed modern slavery if what they crave to enjoy overseas is right here at their door steps. This country is so blessed with human and natural resources but has been hampered by a debilitating level of corruption which is not helped by government insincerity in dealing with it. Honestly, we can't continue like this as a nation! I will not be surprised if after now countries of little reckoning would come up with one flimsy condition or the other to deter nigerians from gaining access to their to the country. Ah! Lets be wise.

WHITHER FRSC?

This piece is with reference to the enforcement of the use of the new driving license and number plates by the Federal Road Safety Corp. Plans have been concluded by the FRSC to force motorist out of the roads or have their vehicles impounded by 30th september 2013 who are non compliant. The question which the FRSC has not answered satisfactorily is the need for a change from the old plate number to the new since there is little or no difference. I dont know how they were able to later convince the national assembly to give assent after it vehemently opposed it! Is it a case of some powerful interests who stand to benefit from the exercise? Till date the FRSC has not been able to convince Nigerians the need for the change from the old to to the new. That is why their plan to clampdown on defaulting motorist should be vehemently resisted! It is undue harrasment on the part of the FRSC who cannot justify the need for such a change. The Consumer Right Project (CRP) is worthy of mention here as they have already intituted legal means to halt the move by the burden that we have as the FRSC presently.

Congrats Super Eagles!

It is with pleasure I write to congratulate the super eagles for their sterling performance against noisy malawians and Africa's vice champions burkina faso. Obviously shows the team is getting stronger by the day. The next hurdle is the final game to qualify for the world cup which I am quite positive they will overcome no matter the opposition. My advice is that they should not rest on their oars until the world cup ticket is delivered which I believe is possible all things been equal. Once again congrats to coach Stephen Keshi and all the players!

Nollywood and Pornography.

In recent time Nollywood has been inundated with flicks that has strong sexual content which leaves much to be desired. Industry watchers see this as a negative trend which places undue pressure on our cultural norms. If you ask me I will say that it is a wake up call for the regulatory body i.e the nigerian film and video censors board (nfvcb) to up its game and deal decisively with erring producers, directors and marketers alike. They have to come up with strategies that minimise the influx of such films into the market. There should be no excuse for non performance as they are paid their salaries without excuses. Frequent raids for example of major markets where these movies are taken for onward distribution should be carried out. Also there should be a check within the various bodies like the actors guild of nigeria etc. The bottom line here is enforcement of existing laws in cases of default.

A thankful heart!

Its another sunday!I hope we took time to acknowledge our creator who has made us see this beautiful day. Its my fervent prayer that we will fulfil the very purpose of our existence even though faced with contrary situations.

Nigeria and its religiousity.

Nigeria is one of the world's most regious nation no doubt but ironically it is bedevilled by an astronomically high rate of corruption, violence and crime, unemployment, nepotism, tribalism, ethnic marginalization and the list goes on! There are countless churches and mosques in almost every nook and cranny and one begins to wonder who is failing in its responsibility. Is it the worshippers or the God that is worshipped? The God that is worshipped has a set standard as exemplified in the bible with respect to christians and the quaran with regards to the muslims. Let me narrow it down to these two as we also have the african traditional religious worshippers. God is believed to be parfect in ALL his ways if that is understood then the crux of the matter lies with the individual worshippers of these religions. A large number of these tend to be hypocritical which makes a mockery of the faith they profess thereby discouraging potential believers. I believe no one is forced to belong to any particular religion, if that be the case then it behoves on true worshippers to do as prescribed instead giving a bad name to the faith they profess. When they do this it is expected to impact positively on the society at large as there will less of the aformentioned problems. For example as a civil servant one is expected to obey the rules guiding your work ethics which is meant to promote government policies and programmes and not to be involved in corrupt practices that impact negatively on the society at large. I admonish us as believers of respective faiths to stop been hypocrital and trust your maker to help you do the right thing always and everywhere for a better and prosperous Nigeria!

Naija celebs making it so loud!

Success whereever and whenever it meets u is worth celebrating no doubt. I have no challenge with that either. My attention is drawn to attitude of Nigerian celebs especially the music artiste who are quick to announce to the world through the social media of their acquisitions even if it is a pin! I think its high time they exercise a high level of modesty so that they will not be seen to be overly materialistic with little or no attention paid to the less privileged in the society.

This Man United!

I have my fears for this current manchester united team managed by David Moyes. Only today they lost their first premiership game against liverpool and previously held to a pulsating draw at home by chelsea. The team as presently constituted without any major signing yet leaves much to be desired and I wonder how far they intend to go? If u ask me I do not have faith in David moyes he doesn't look like he has what it takes to continue the winning streak of sir alex ferguson. Someone would argue that it is too early to judge? Where are the signs to suggest that David Moyes is truly the chosen one? It is only a matter of time. I hope am proved wrong! ;)
