The Nigeria immigration recruitment exam gets the hammer!

The national outcry that greeted the poorly conducted recruitment exam into the Nigerian immigration service reflects the heart of a nation with genuine emotions. How could one justify the N1000 paid by applicants from such a poorly conducted exercise the resulted in the death of 20 applicants with scores injured? What is the identity of the so called consultants that were probably concerned about the rather than the quality of service? It beats my imagination how both the supervisory ministry and the immigration service could not handle a simple recruitment process without hitches! A clear case of incompetence. The losses from that failed exercise are too numerous to mention. The federal government obviously did the expected by having the exam cancelled for a fresh one to be conducted at a later date. The compensation to the victims and the injured is most welcome and can be said to be face saving. I hope we will begin to get it right in this country called NIGERIA.

Nollywood and Pornography.

In recent time Nollywood has been inundated with flicks that has strong sexual content which leaves much to be desired. Industry watchers see this as a negative trend which places undue pressure on our cultural norms. If you ask me I will say that it is a wake up call for the regulatory body i.e the nigerian film and video censors board (nfvcb) to up its game and deal decisively with erring producers, directors and marketers alike. They have to come up with strategies that minimise the influx of such films into the market. There should be no excuse for non performance as they are paid their salaries without excuses. Frequent raids for example of major markets where these movies are taken for onward distribution should be carried out. Also there should be a check within the various bodies like the actors guild of nigeria etc. The bottom line here is enforcement of existing laws in cases of default.

The war in Syria has claimed thousands of innocent lives and even though am not syrian am really concerned and disturbed ok fine am not forgetting that we have the terrorist group boko haram to contend with in Nigeria trust me their days are numbered! Ok back to the subject matter. President Assad is heartless no doubt, how a president can war against the same people he professes to serve is baffling to say the least and he is not alone in his quest of anhillation and that is where the role of Russia as a member of the un security council is worrisome! Russia consistently supply modern weapons to syria to continue the mass killing of civilians in the name of trade? Trading without a human face!;( Russia will pay dearly for their insensitivity one way or the other. My prayer and desire for syria is that Assad will be dislodged one way or the other. He does not belong to the future in Syria. He will definetly answer to war crimes in no distant time. Some that followed his steps are alive to tell the story!

It beats my imagination how our leaders view issues or to what extent they are prepared to go to address issues that affect our very existence as an entity. The challenges posed by unemployment, a failing power sector, poor infrastructural development, hydra headed corruption and I can go on and on as the list is just endless! My focus here is the federal legislators and their unrepentant greed and selfishness for which Mr President seem helpless or better not prepared to take his chances. I begin to wonder what posterity will remember these legislators them for! If I may ask why should the salaries of our legislators be swimming in millions when on the other hand the president is still toying with the idea of removing fuel subsidy, and the legislature's blanket rejection of stipend for unemployed graduates. How selfish can they be? I believe that these legislators and even mr president are primarily there for themselves and any legislation that will not serve their interest will definetly not see the light of day and that is quite sad! Whither Nigeria? And where do we think we are going with this unrepentant level of hypocrisy! I pray for a forceful wond of change that will these ones off the political landscape. Meanwhile I leave u to reflect over this for now. I will be back!
