Emmanuel Emenike Retires from Super Eagles!

The Al Ain forward has decided to focus on his club career after scoring 9 goals in 37 appearances for the Super Eagles
Nigeria forward Emmanuel Emenike has announced his retirement from international football at the age of 28, becoming the second player after Vincent Enyeama to sign out of the senior national team.

The Al Ain player who was top scorer at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa took the decision for peace to reign in the Super Eagles where he felt should not be a ‘family house’ or a ‘threat zone’ to any individual.

Reports had suggested that Emenike might be kicked out of the Super Eagles setup no thanks to his poor form for the country. He had struggled for goals since finding the back of the net against Ethiopia in Addis Ababa during the 2014 Fifa World Cup play-off in October 2013.

This might have forced him out of the team, bringing an end to a Nigeria career that saw him play in one World Cup and one Africa Cup of Nations where his four goals handed the Super Eagles their third title as well as the topscorer’s award.

He wrote on Instagram: “No more Eagles career! After five great years, I am happy to announce that I have put full-stop to my national team career for the sake of national peace.”

“It’s a pleasure for me to have played for this great country. I never regretted it and I think it’s the best time to end it. Million thanks to all the fans who have been very supportive during the good and bad times.

“I am very proud of my performance, I am proud of my team mates and I am very proud of the nation called ‘Nigeria’. My Afcon gold medal is a sign of great achievement, My Afcon topscorer award speaks a lot about my commitment and dedication to the team. Super Eagles is a camp not a family house, and it shouldn’t be a threat zone for any individual.

“I have done according to our national anthem. All my dreams came true in the national team, I dreamt (sic) to win Nations Cup for Nigeria after 20-years, I dreamt (sic) to played at the World Cup as well as to make a name for myself… In the space of five years, I got them. I’m a winner!

“For every disappointing fans, maybe due to my inability to re-establish my goal scoring instinct for Super Eagles, I will like to say I’m sorry but the ones I had scored counted well for the team.

”As long as Nigeria remains, you and I will always remember the name ‘Emenike’. “Finally, I am happy to make a bow and continue supporting the team every time,” he concluded.

Emenike will be fondly remembered for his rib cracking missile against Cote d’Ivoire in the quarter final of the 2013 Afcon where the Eagles soared 2-1 at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium, Rustenburg.

Efcc goes after Akpabio!

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday arrested former Akwa Ibom State governor, Senator Godswill Akpabio, over alleged N108.1 billion fraud.

The ex-governor, now a senator, was also accused of mismanaging the state’s funds, and plunging it into huge debt.

About N18 billion of the said sum was allegedly lavished on special services, reception of very important guests and sundry items.

The ex-governor was also said to be under probe for allegedly acquiring five choice buildings in Abuja and Lagos.

But Akpabio last night denied being arrested by EFCC.

He said he went to the anti-graft agency on his own volition to respond to a petition that was filed against him.

According to investigation, Akpabio was picked up in Abuja after a two-week surveillance had been carried out on him.

A top source in the EFCC, who spoke in confidence, said: “We have picked up the ex-governor based on some petitions against him. One of the petitioners alleged mismanagement of about N108.1 billion. Others have visited the EFCC to adopt their petitions and show that they are not anonymous.

“Akpabio has been under investigation for some time. At a point, he got intelligence report that we were after him, and he has a peculiar security ring around him.

“But we have got to a convenient bend to arrest him for interrogation on some of the allegations already isolated for him.

“Akpabio is already in custody where our operatives are interacting with him. This is just the first leg of his grilling by the commission.”

It was not immediately clear if Akpabio would be granted bail last night.

Responding to a question, the source said: “The EFCC had interacted with some of the petitioners. Fairness demands that Akpabio should be invited.

In a June 22, 2015 petition to EFCC, an Abuja-based lawyer and activist, Leo Ekpenyong had accused Akpabio of sheer waste in office.

The petition alleged that between January and December 2014, the trio of Godswill Akpabio, an ex-aide of his and another associate made illegal but substantial withdrawals of cash from a designated state government-owned account with Zenith Bank with account number 101037588, amounting to N22.1 billion.

“It is worthy of note that reasons for such ungodly cash withdrawals against financial regulations and due process laws range between sundry use and unjustifiable expenditures by Godswill Akpabio and his numerous surrogates and proxies.

“For example, a whopping N18 billion was withdrawn fraudulently from the state FAAC account with the United Bank for Africa in tranches of N10 million and above by the associate in a surreptitious manner to conceal their dishonest intention.”

“The cumulative aggregate of the monies stolen by Godswill Akpabio from the coffers of government as pocket money is the annual budget of some states in Nigeria put together.”

At press time, it was gathered that about five choice mansions have been put under searchlight by EFCC.

The top EFCC source added: “The allegation we have is that these mansions were bought by Akpabio through some fronts.

“This allegation is being looked into. If it is true, we may invoke temporary assets forfeiture clause in the EFCC Act.

“But we have to give Akpabio the benefit of the doubt to react to all these allegations against him. They might be true or false.”

Some of the choice properties, allegedly traced to Akpabio’s fronts and under probe are a mighty building at Ikogosi Spring Close, off Katsina-Ala Crescent, Maitama-Abuja; a mansionette at Colorado Close, Maitama, Abuja; a choice property at Probyn Road, Ikoyi, Lagos; another mansionette at Olusegun Aina Street, Parkview, Lagos and a 25-storey building on Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

In a swift reaction, Akpabio’s media aide, Mr. Jackson Udom, denied the arrest of his principal.

Although the statement said Akpabio only visited the EFCC, it was silent on whether Akpabio was being detained or had been released.

Her kid sister, Laura Ikeji made the revelation when she shared new photos of the new house on Instagram saying, ‘No, it’s not a block of flats, no it’s not rented, Linda Ikeji bought this Banana Island mansion with her sweat’.

At the time of this report, the 35-year-old blogger has not said anything on her blog about the new house and her sister who broke the news didn’t disclose the financial worth of the beautiful home.

Ex Bayelsa Governor is Dead!

Former Bayelsa State Governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, is dead.
He reportedly slipped into a coma two days ago and was placed on life support.
Recall that the British Government had earlier determined to resurrect an outstanding case of money laundering against the former governor and had requested for his extradition to London.
Alamieyeseigha, who was facing money laundering charges, jumped bail and returned to Nigeria and has since then refused to answer summons for trial to continue.
He was born on November 16, 1952 in Amassoma, Ogboin North Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.
He attended the Bishop Dimeari Grammar School, Yenagoa. He joined the Nigerian Defence Academy as a Cadet Officer in 1974, then joined the Nigerian Air Force, where he served in the department of Logistics and Supply.
He held various air force positions in Enugu, Markurdi, Kaduna and Ikeja. Alamieyeseigha retired from the air force in 1992 as a Squadron Leader.
After leaving the air force he became the Sole Administrator of Pabod Supplies Port Harcourt. Later he became Head of Budget, Planning, Research and Development of the National Fertiliser Company (NAFCON).
Diepreye Alamieyeseigha was impeached on allegations of corruption on 9 December 2005.

Vincent Enyeama bows out of Eagles!

The record-capped Nigerian has called it quits with the after he was left humiliated by coach Sunday Oliseh on Tuesday
Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has pulled the curtain on his international career, 13 years after making his debut for the Super Eagles.

The record-capped goalkeeper was left humiliated by coach Sunday Oliseh at the team's camp on Tuesday and has now announced his retirement.

In a post on his Instagram account, Enyeama wrote passionately about his service to his fatherland and how it must now sadly come to an end following the events of recent days that have left the nation perplexed by the actions of the coach.

“I have fought a good fight for more than 13years. I have finished my course,I have kept the faith and sang the anthem with passion,” the 101-capped Enyeama began.

“Henceforth, there is laid for me a crown which only God can reward me for my 13years of national services.

“God bless Nigeria. Henceforth, I am no more the captain of the Nigeria senior football team, I am no more the goalie of the team, I am out of the team. I am no more available for international duties.

“I want to say thank you to every Nigerian fan and supporter world wide. It’s been the most trying period of my life but I know that Nigerians are there for me and God is with me. God bless Nigeria,” he concluded with the hashtag #ENDOFANERA.

Vincent Enyeama confirms he was thrown out of Eagles camp by security

Super Eagles goal keepers took to his Instagram page to confirm yesterday's reports that he was thrown out of the Eagles camp by security. He wrote;
"After 13years of national service, having this smiles on my face and this passion in my heart. through the billows, the waves of the ocean, the tears of defeat, the sound of rejoicing from victory chants. now the thought of being stripped naked and security agents throwing me out breaks me completely. i will take anything but not insult to my dead mother."he wrote
Enyeama buried his mum last weekend. He was reportedly thrown out of camp yesterday by security on the order of new Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, for coming late.Continue to read what he told a sports journalist about the incident.



Speaking to sports journalist, Colin Udoh, Enyeama said because he came late, (he came on Tuesday when the deadline to report to camp was Monday) Sunday Oliseh dropped him as a team captain and made Ahmed Musa the captain.
“I was surprised, so I stood up to explain my position and ask for an explanation, but the coach asked me to sit down. I insisted on speaking because I felt that with the years of dedicated service I have given to the country I deserve at least the respect of giving my own side. But he told me that either the whole team would leave the room for me, or I would have to leave the room for the whole team. There has been a lot of incidents these last few months. I don’t need it, the team does not need it, so maybe the best thing might be to step aside in the interest of the country so that the team can focus on football instead of distractions.” he said

Breaking.....Vincent Enyeama Expelled!

The Super Eagles captain was kicked out of the team’s camp in Belgium after falling out with coach Sunday Oliseh on Tuesday, three days after burying his parent
The simmering problem in the camp of the Super Eagles between coach Sunday Oliseh and captain Vincent Enyeama boiled over on Tuesday when the goalkeeper was kicked out of the team;s hotel.

Enyeama arrived camp after Monday’s deadline, having been permitted to report late following Saturday’s burial of his mother in Akwa Ibom.

A month ago, the goalkeeper failed to report to camp in Abuja for the Super Eagles’ Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania, only for news to break that he had lost his mother.

However, it seems there will be no way back for him now as he was kicked out by security on Tuesday from the Verviers Hotel.

Officials in the Super Eagles camp told Goal that Ahmed Musa has now been named as captain ahead of returnee John Obi Mikel.

Goal also learnt that Oliseh was unnerved by the decision of Victor Moses not to come for the game and that the winger might not be called up again in his reign.

Toyin Ibitoye, Super Eagles spokesman who is awaiting issuance of visa to join the squad in Belgium, said he was not yet aware of the developments.

“The last I heard was that Enyeama had arrived camp earlier in the day, I cannot speak about further developments because I am not aware,” he told Goal.

The latest news that we have heard is that officials of the NFF are trying to help bring a positive conclusion to the situation at hand.

Former Governor of Kaduna state, Malam Balarabe Musa, says he is disappointed at President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministerial list arguing that that there is nothing spectacular about the names.
According to him, “why did it take the President four months to come up with these names? I believe this is the question that many informed Nigerians should ask.
“These are the same old names, ordinary Nigerians who the President knows and he must have even met them several times. So, what is particular about them that he wasted so much time in appointing them ministers.
“But there are about two or three who I can say are distinguished among them like, Audu Ogbeh who I have known for a very long time.
We were together during the Second Republic. “He was a minister while I was governor then. Audu Ogbeh has an outstanding public record that everybody knows.”
The Senate President, Bukola Saraki announced to the Senators 21 ministerial nominees.
They were contained in the list forwarded to him last week Wednesday, September 30 by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The nominees are, Abubakar Malami (SAN): Abdurahman Bello Dambazzau; Aisha Jumai Al Hassan; Alhaji Lai Mohammed; Babatunde Raji Fashola; Adebayo Shittu; Solomon Dalong; Senator Chris Ngige; Rotimi Amaechi; and Chief Audu Ogbeh.
Others are, Mrs. Amina Ibrahim; Dr. Osagie Ehaneri; Emmanuel Kachukwu; Dr. Kayode Fayemi; Eng. Suleiman Adamu; Mrs. Kemi Adeosun; Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu; Hon. Ahmed Musa Bello; Ibrahim Usman Jubrin; Senator Hadi Serika; Senator Udo Udoma.
Senate President Saraki opened the sealed envelope at 10:45am.
According to him, the President sent the list to him through the Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, adding that the list contained the first batch of nominees.
Senator Saraki who disclosed that the Senate would commence screening, tuesday 13, said that President Buhari had told him that subsequent names would come shortly.
The long delay is unduly and cannot be justified. Yours truly expected to see well dug out names from the length and breadth of this country.

The Travails Of Alison- Diezani Madueke.

Mrs Alison-Maduekeke has stayed away from Nigeria since President Buhari was sworn-in. She was first appointed into the federal cabinet in 2007. A former director at Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria, she was appointed Minister of Transport by late President Umaru Yar’adua. In December 2008, she was redeployed to the Mines and Steel Development ministry.
After former Vice President Goodluck Jonathan became acting president, Alison-Madueke was appointed Nigeria’s first female petroleum minister in February 2010, a position she held till May 29, 2015 when Mr. Jonathan was in office. Alison-Madueke’s tenure as petroleum minister turned out one of Nigeria’s most controversial, amid unending allegations of corruption.
Under her watch, dubious oil marketers stole trillions of naira of oil subsidy money. She retained her position after the House of Representatives investigated the scandal and indicted the minister. Probes by independent audit firms, including the KPMG and Pricewaterahousecoopers, confirmed billions of dollars of oil money were missing, the most notable being $20 billion in 2014.
Other corruption allegations
Long before her stint in the oil and gas sector, Alison-Madueke was investigated by the Nigerian Senate on allegation she paid N30.9 billion to contractors while she held office as transport minister. In 2009, the Senate also indicted Mrs. Alison-Madueke and recommended her for prosecution for allegedly transferring N1.2 billion into a private account of a toll company without due process. The former minister consistently denied any wrongdoing.
In June, after leaving office, she rejected all allegations of embezzlement, saying she never stole from Nigeria. In March 2014, the House of Representatives mandated its Committee on Public Accounts to investigate the alleged squandering of N10 billion over a two-year period on the arbitrary charter and maintenance of a Challenger 850 aircraft for unofficial use by Alison-Madueke.
Such act was said to contravene the “Fiscal Responsibility Act and all other laws on fiscal discipline” Acting on what it termed reliable evidence, the House said it learnt that Alison-Madueke had allegedly sunk at least N3.120 billion into the maintenance of a private jet dedicated to the service of herself and her family.
A breakdown of the money, showed that the sum of 500,000 Euros (N130 million) was spent every month on the maintenance of the airplane, which amounted to N3.120 billion for the two years in question.

I am not saying he should use his money to repair but he can as well bring about emergency repairs till such a time that a contract is awarded for complete renovation of the road. Hon. The owner is quite elderly and can be her father!She has not worked for more than a week before this so called hotelier requested to date her promising to take care of her. Well, this friend of mine turned down the offer and all hell was let loose! The question is,is it by force? This friend of mine resigned the job but not without insulting him. The hotel owner didn't take it lightly at all by going to the extent of going to places where she previously worked to threathen them not to ever absolve her. He actually promise to go the extent making her lose her certificate by fabricating lies which she cannot easily defend! As I speak he got wind of a new place where this girl applied and sent a strongly worded letter threatening them not to take her. What would u have this friend of mine do? If you were in her shoes? The challenge i have with the presidential hopefuls including the incumbent has to do with their attitudes which stem from selfishness!Take for instant the incumbent talking of fighting corruption using technological means?If I may ask what why wait till he gets a second term before he implements his corruption agenda? what was he afraid of that he could not fight corruption headlong up until now? he talks of creating 2million jobs all of a sudden if re elected! this obviously flies in the face of common sense and should not be taken seriously because the teeming population of Nigerians cannot be fooled!President Jonathan should say something else to convince Nigerians to be re-reelected.

Akwa Ibom Governor leaves a befitting Legacy!

Akwa ibom state governor Godswill Akpabio deserves a hearty congratulation for the magnificent stadium which is rightly named "nest of champions". The stadium is truly world class! I understand that it took just two years to put that structure in place. Talk of a man with vision on a mission to deliver true dividends of democracy and much more. It sends a clear message to the the incoming governor that he cannot perform below expectation.also that the structure needs to be maintained likewise.This via true legacy to be left behind.
The super eagles should put up a performance worthy of the opening of such a magnificient stadium as they file out against old foes Ghana.
Congratulations once more to the governor and people of Akwa ibom state!

The crowded field in Delta State.

The crowded field in delta state governorship race is of great concern as it is just a vacant position and not otherwise. The list is endless. Dr. Ngozi olejeme,senator Okowa,Ndudi Elumelu, Tony Obuh, Ovie omo agege, prof, agbe utuama,Kenneth gbagi,Ortega Omerhor, Foubiri Warri,James manager and still counting!The question to all is if their motive is right, do they really have a heart for the people of delta or for themselves? Have they identified the weak points of the out going administration? Is their manifesto any different? Delta state and its people deserve more than it is getting. The one that is to be governor needs to understand that. Sentiments should be relegated to the background and the incumbent should not interfere with the process as it is been alleged. Let me say this in the crowded field are contenders and pretenders and soonest time will tell where each belongs. Yours truly desires the best for the state.

They must not be killed!

I am alarmed by the death sentence passed on 12 soldiers in the nigerian military for the attack on their GOC and probably for inciting others to protest against the authorities. Well, in as much as I am not justifying their actions methink that the judgement passed on them is way too extreme and calls for immediate review. For crying out loud this is not a military regime so the military authorities should be guided by democratic principles. I hereby call on President Goodluck Jonathan who is the commander in chief of the military to wade into this matter and avert the death of these innocent soldiers by firing squad. Thank God the GOC was not killed which is enough ground to have their sentences mitigated. The philosopher has spoken.

It was with shock I receive the news of your painful demise my beloved cousin on thursday 4th of september 2014 which started like any other day with good expectation. I can't believe it that you are gone forever in death. It was only the previous day I left you hopeful that you were going to recover with speed but alas it was not to be! You will forever be missed. God knows best why you have to go this early to be with Him. I still can't believe that you are gone Oke my beloved cousin. You had so much to look forward but all that is gone with the wind. Thumbs down on the authorities at Delsuth

The lingering strike action by the delta state university teaching hospital (delsuth) chapter of the nurses union over harassment meted on its members leaves much to be desired. This is the fourth week of the strike action which should have been resolved if relevant authorities are sincere about quick resolution of the crisis. They have been on strike two weeks before the NMA i.e Nigeria Medical Association called out its members on an indefinite strike nationwide. One of the bone of contention is over what could be termed unethical by a doctor to slap as nurse. Under the civil service law the doctor is supposed to be disciplined by going on suspension. This is what the management who are majorly doctors have refused to carry out. I don't know if they expect the delta state governor to directly intervene in an issue that can be dealt with internally! Let me use this medium to call on the state commissioner of health Dr Otumara to swiftly wade in and get the nurses back to work.

Just thinking aloud. Naija's problems are too many and they really need to shed off some especially those that bothers on corruption that has impoverished the majority. In the political arena it is same lack of clearcut ideology has left parties vision less even the ruling party is not spared. One party I know that is heading for a crash is the all progressive party. One can quote me on this. I do not hate the party but the selfish lot will in the leadership. The security situation in the country makes a mockery of the security agencies in the country especially the military. This is with respect to the dreaded sect book haram. The manner with which they maim and kill and by extension unleash terror has never been witnessed and one wonders whether if there is any end in sight. What about the crushing unemployment? Pls somebody should tell okonjo iweala that we are tired hearing figures that practically translates to nothing. Nigeria is just one complex entity!

My attention has been drawn to the rift between the psquare brothers and I must say its a sad development that nobody should think of benefitting from. Quarrels and dissaggrements are parts of challenges in relationship and more often than not come to test the very foundation of such relationships. I believe it is time for them to dialogue with a senior uncle in the family present to resolve areas of disaggrements. I can imagine such a day will come in the life of one Africas most celebrated duo with countless awards! My prayer for them is that the God of reconciliation will reconcile them to live as an inseparable unit once more.

Fuel subsidy must go!

It is high time Nigerians come to terms with the painful reality that the fuel subsidy has to be removed. The advantages far outweigh the disadvantages as it has a very good tendency of opening of up the sector for foreign and local investment opportunities thereby creating employment. Sustaining the subsidy has only enriched pocket size of Nigerians while the larger population is impoverished. The initial effect of the subsidy removal will be telling but in the long run the benefits will be there for all to enjoy! I have always supported the sustenance of the fuel subsidy but not anymore afterall they have indirectly been removing as pms sells for N105 on the average currently. The subsidy on diesel has been removed for some years now and nigerians have adjusted to the reality of it over time. This is my opinion and mine alone, so anyone with superior argument should hit the comment box. Thanks

The emergency sanitation and demolition exercise that is ongoing in some parts of the state is commendable! Just want to appeal to the authorities to do it with a human face as exemplified by the state commissioner for tourism Barr. Richard Mofe Damijo in the udu area council. I witnessed him in action today while addressing those concerned. Kudos to you RMD.

I am a Philosopher and am proud am one. There are a group of scholars know as realist and they propagate Realism as a school of thought. It can be seen as the attitude or practice of accepting a situation as it is and being prepared to deal with it accordingly. 2. the quality or fact of representing a person, thing, or situation accurately or in a way that is true to life. 3. the doctrine that universals or abstract concepts have an objective or absolute existence. The theory that universals have their own reality is sometimes calledPlatonic realism because it was first outlined by Plato's doctrine of “forms” or ideas. Idealism is somewhat the opposite of the realism and is the practice of forming or pursuing ideals, esp. unrealistically. 2. any of various systems of thought in which the objects of knowledge are held to be in some way dependent on the activity of mind. Now, the question is where does a realist fit in the place of faith? Ponder about this till next time!

The Nigeria immigration recruitment exam gets the hammer!

The national outcry that greeted the poorly conducted recruitment exam into the Nigerian immigration service reflects the heart of a nation with genuine emotions. How could one justify the N1000 paid by applicants from such a poorly conducted exercise the resulted in the death of 20 applicants with scores injured? What is the identity of the so called consultants that were probably concerned about the rather than the quality of service? It beats my imagination how both the supervisory ministry and the immigration service could not handle a simple recruitment process without hitches! A clear case of incompetence. The losses from that failed exercise are too numerous to mention. The federal government obviously did the expected by having the exam cancelled for a fresh one to be conducted at a later date. The compensation to the victims and the injured is most welcome and can be said to be face saving. I hope we will begin to get it right in this country called NIGERIA.
